Today Samsung announced the W9600 Beam, the successor to the Samsung Haptic Beam, for the Korean smartphone market.
The 56mm x 116mm x 15.7mm (2.2in x 4.5in x 0.6in) W9600 Beam has a 3.3-inch 800 x 480 pixel resolution AMOLED display that Samsung says is 1.5 times brighter than the one offered on the original Haptic Beam phone.
The W9600 Beam also comes equipped with a 5 megapixel camera and a projector, which can be used to display presentations, or even to project a movie up on the wall. It offers a 1,200mAh battery as well as up to 11GB of internal memory tha can be upgraded to 16GB via a microSD card.
The W9600 Beam also runs the latest Android 2.1 operating system. As we noted in our hands-on video back at Mobile World Congress, the device also has a custom Samsung user-interface on top of Android 2.1.
Samsung did not announce pricing.
