Sprint's HTC EVO 4G is world's first 3G/4G WiMAX Android smartphone

Today Sprint officially launched the HTC EVO 4G, an Android powered smartphone that's chock full of premium hardware.

The EVO runs Android 2.1, with an enhanced HTC Sense custom Sense user interface and Friendstream, and has a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 pixel resolution display, a forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 megapixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities, and 1GB of RAM inside. The EVO 4G even has HDMI video-out for streaming content on your HDTV. It's also capable of sharing its connection with 8 other WiFi equipped devices.

Other unique features include a tap-and-hold support within the browser for copy/paste, sharing, and translating.

The EVO 4G sports rounded edges and a glossy black finish. The back of the device, home to the camera and flash, also has a kickstand for when you want to leave the device on a desk to stream YouTube HD, SprintTV, or to watch other video content.

The EVO 4G will be available in Sprint retail channels and in RadioShack, Best Buy, and Walmart, this summer. Pricing will be announced at a later date, but you can register for your EVO 4G at sprint.com/evo.
